Coaching creates a safe and non-judgemental space for the clients to explore their needs. Through inquiry and reflection, coaching brings about a change in a non-directive fashion. Coaching facilitates new thinking and behaviour, and as neural pathways are buing re-built, these become habits.
Therapy is meant to diagnose or fix someone. A coach listens and asks powerful questions that help to acknowledge and overcome one’s challenges or to support goals. A coach allows the clients to feel, think and speak, while the coach is there to validate those feelings and facilitate new ways of thinking and feeling.
A mentor sets goals or narratives for the clients and monitors their accomplishment. A coach partners with the clients in articulating his or her own goals and narratives. Clients develop their own insight which a coach as a partner.
Consulting or advising defines solutions for the client and holds him them accountable. A coach facilitates the client’s own path and motivations for action. The client is empowered to own his solutions and actions. A coach supports the client’s work towards these goals. What the client does further with what has been discussed, is the client’s exclusive choice.
A coach does not lead the session. A coach facilitates that the client discovers what needs to be done or what holds him back as well as what is needed for moving forward.

3. Is attending coaching sessions enough to achive results?
In order to see long-lasting changes, the coachee may need to work in between sessions. Like regular physical excercise, regular mental practice builds new neural pathways, and new habits more efficiently. However, what a client does with what he brought to the session is solely his or her choice.
